Frequently Asked Quetsions
Do you take insurance? Why not?
No, it saves me and my speech families a lot of cost and headache. We may check all the boxes and fill out all the paperwork only to find out that insurance doesn't cover speech therapy for that condition.
Is your office inside your house?
Yes, my treatment area is immediately in the front door area with a waiting area for parents directly across from where I see kids. We are within easy view of parents.
Are siblings welcome?
Yes, I keep play items and books in the waiting area for siblings. They are welcome to hang out and watch the speech process. I think it's great for them to see what their sibling is working on. I may make exceptions but generally prefer that they are not present directly in speech therapy sessions so they don't distract from the child who is receiving services.
Do you have pets?
Yes, I have a goldendoodle named Penny. She loves to join sessions if it's appropriate and the child feels comfortable with her in the room. If the child is scared of dogs or prefers not to have her in the sessions, she is secured in another room. Penny provides a lot of great speech and language opportunities, but the child receiving therapy is always the main priority.
How long and frequent are therapy sessions?
Therapy schedule is based on the child's individual needs. Sessions are 30 minutes either 1x 2x or 3x per week.
